CVTQRY for System i
Why convert Query/400 to SQL? The principal reason is to leverage IBM strategic SQL Query Engine (SQE) and achieve the best performance with the lowest impact on your server. The secondary reason is ease of maintenance and to leverage the power of SQL as a query language.
The CVTQRY tool allows the conversion process to be simplified and require less time by processing many queries at once. In addition, if the conversion process is not successful error messages are embedded with the generated source file to make it easier to do the manual transition to the final SQL statement. Once converted, the queries can either be run by the STRQMQRY command or imported into other tools like IBM’s DB2 Web Query.
